Congratulations on becoming certified as Solano County’s 6th Green Business!
The Bay Area Green Business Program (Program) certifies the environmental performance of small-to-medium size businesses and government agencies that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible way. Certification requires 1) compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and 2) meeting Program standards for conserving energy and water, preventing pollution and minimizing waste. Certification is also based on a per site basis.
The Program was developed in 1996 by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and Bay Area public agencies through a grant provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 9. The Program’s industry-based checklists were created with input from Cal EPA, California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), local Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPA) and the small business community. ABAG coordinates the Program, which is implemented by Green Business Coordinators in the nine participating Bay Area counties.
The Program provides businesses with consolidated information and technical assistance on:
Complying with environmental regulations (including those pertaining to air quality, wastewater discharge, storm water management, chemical storage and handling, and hazardous waste management); and going beyond compliance to adopt environmentally-sound practices in four areas – energy efficiency, water conservation, solid and hazardous waste reduction, and pollution prevention.
Today, A-1 Guaranteed Heating & Air, Inc. in Vallejo officially receives these distinctions after the agency inspectors representing the following completed their on-site audit and confirmed the Program Standards had been met in their respective category:
- Energy Conservation: Small Business Energy Alliance, Ryan Porter
- Pollution Prevention: Vallejo Sanitation & Flood Control District, Jennifer Kaiser
- Water Conservation: City of Vallejo Water Division, Roger Judy
- Waste Reduction/Recycling: Vallejo Garbage Service, Lisa Lefebvre, Recycling Coordinator
Solano County is delighted to have A-1 Guaranteed Heating & Air, Inc. – Vallejo join the growing number of nearly 2,000 small businesses throughout the Bay Area that have successfully met the Green Business Program standards and proudly display a window decal of the Green Business logo that is marketed so consumers can identify the environmentally responsible businesses.
